Run Coach - Boston, MA

Even when I’m not working with athletes to reach their goals, I always keep pretty close to our sport! I work for New Balance as a Performance Footwear Product Manager, and am a competitive marathoner in my own time.

I grew up running competitively, competing at the high school (Syracuse, NY area) and collegiate levels (UMass). Following that, and just feeling a bit exhausted by the stress and expectations I placed on my success, I took an almost 10 year hiatus from competitive running. I was fortunate enough to rediscover the sport through training for my first marathon ~5 years ago. It was in this time that I relearned how to approach both training and competing, and found a renewed joy in doing so. I’ve also found more success than ever as a result, qualifying for the US Olympic Trials in the marathon, and achieving some accolades I’m pretty proud of. Within the past 14 months, I finished as the top American at the 2022 London Marathon, and was also 32nd overall at this years Boston Marathon.

I’m excited to share in that initial discovery process, and in the resultant achievements and transformation for the athletes I’ll partner with here at MyStryde Train.

Coaching Philosophy

I think my coaching philosophy is centered on learning to find your connection to running and what it gives you. Once you’re able to get past that initial feeling and refrain of “this sucks” and find enjoyment and appreciation for the process, your results can really flow! Also, don’t get me wrong- it’ll still definitely suck sometimes. But the appreciation you get after those kinds of days/sessions can pretty special as well.

Lastly- I think an openness as to what works well, or doesn’t, for each individual athlete, and a belief that there’s always things we can improve on and learn is core to my approach.

Why I Run

There’s so many things I get out of running and every run and race offers something different. From the head clearing post-work miles with friends, to the self-love and respect that’s yielded in willing yourself through a tough early winter morning workout, to the absolute euphoria of nailing your goal race, I’m grateful for it all.

Favorite Race

No surprises here- it’s Boston. The hometown support, the ebbs and flows of the crowds that seem to mirror those of the course itself, it’s all incredible. And Boylston is magic.
